2021 Season Information
Have you ever wondered where your food comes from? How it was grown? By who? And if it traveled further than you do on a yearly vacation? Community-supported agriculture (CSA) is a system that connects the producer and consumers within the food system more closely by allowing the consumer to subscribe to a farm's harvest.
You know where your food is coming from and you are helping maintain a local farm operation. You are supporting a small local farm while at the same time ensuring you know exactly where and how your food is grown and by whom.
How Does It Work?
Starting May 27 and continuing through October 14, FWF will grow fresh organically grown vegetables harvested weekly for you and your family to pick up at a designated location. You will have a choice to pickup Thursday’s between 4:30 - 6:30 in the downtown Cincinnati area OR Saturdays 9am - 1pm at the Covington’s Farmers Market in NKY. We do ask that you select a pickup location for the season. If you choose to change it, just let us know by tuesday of that week so we can harvest accordingly.
What to Expect
Every week I will post to the blog to let you know how the farm is doing. What’s growing, what’s not and why. How the farm animals are doing and what’s coming in your share that week. A peek into the weekly life of a small sustainable farm.
There are three CSA size options to consider:
The Full Share - $35/ week for 20 weeks, meant for a family of four or more. You can expect to receive 8-12 different items each week.
The Half Share - $21/ week for 20 weeks, meant for a couple or a single person. You can expect to receive 6-8 different items each week.
The Summer Fling - $30/ week, if you are only into the summer vegetables, you can now sign up for a “summer fling” of 6 weeks. July 22 through August 6. Your share will consist of 6-8 different summer items, heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, green beans, peppers, eggplant etc.
There is also an egg share you can add to your weekly pickup. Free range, pasture-raised, happy hens living their best life and providing us fresh eggs daily. A dozen eggs with green, blue, and brown variety eggs for $5/dozen. Never any antibiotics or chemicals. This can be added to your cart on the website. There are a limited number of egg shares available.
Here’s a rough idea of what you can expect in your weekly shares:
Month of May and June:
Radish, kale, lettuces, sugar snap peas, shelling peas, snow peas, herbs, carrots, beets, swiss chard, spinach, arugula, bok choy.

How do I sign up and make my first payment?
The first 50% is due up front and will secure your spot in the CSA. Why upfront? This helps me cover all of the cost for seeds, soil, tools, etc. The second half of payment is due the final week. Both payments can be made through the website using a credit card. If you prefer to pay via cash or check, message me directly and we can make alternate arrangements. You can also pay 100% upfront if you prefer.
FARM CELEBRATION
The annual FWF Farm Celebration is scheduled for the first Saturday in October (may change based on weather). Everyone is invited out to a day at the farm. We grill out, have a tour of the farm to see where your food is grown, meet the farm animals and make some s’mores around the fire. The celebration is also contingent on how we are doing with the Corona Virus. I will make that call closer to the time of the party.
FAQ’s:
Do I get to pick what I want?
I pick the vegetables that are ready for harvest each week. You can choose to NOT take something home, but what comes in your bag each week is dictated by mother nature. I try to mix it up weekly so you don’t get bored.
What if I can’t pick up my share one week?
Contact the farm asap to let us know. If you are a thursday pickup, you may be able to pick up at the market that Saturday or possibly come to the farm to get your share. We will always do our best to get it to you, but sometimes it may not be an option. We do ask that you select a pickup location for the season. If you choose to change it, just let us know by tuesday of that week so we can harvest accordingly.
What if something happens to the farm? Do I get my money back?
Joining a CSA means you share in the risk of farming. IF a crop fails, like lettuce, you won’t receive money back for that item. I will always do my best to supplement if a crop fails. IF the farm suffers a natural disaster and all is lost, I will do my best to get you a refund if possible. Your upfront payment pays for the seeds, compost, and tools that are needed for the year. Let’s hope we never have to figure out a complete loss on the farm for everyone’s sake. If you miss a pickup, same story, there is not a monetary refund.
Is FWF organic?
The farm is not certified organic YET. It’s a very time consuming and costly certification. BUT FWF grows with organic practices which means it’s all organic without the certification
